Catching Up

My little boy's 50's jacket wasn't the only thing that was waiting
for Ken to be fixed.
I have also lost quite a few pounds (25+ yeah for me)
and since I'm planning on continuing to lose,
do not want to buy new clothes - YET.
So I needed to take in a few seams.

These are some of my favorite pj's.

And of course, I also needed to finish this:

for my daughter.
Knitted pieces.

Quilted lining.

All ready to put together.

She wanted a bag that was large enough for
a book and a journal.
What do you think?

The Compromise

It has been years since I've made costumes for Halloween.
My youngest daughter and I thought it would be
a great idea
to make costumes for my two grandsons.
One will be a dinosaur,
the other ????
So we asked him.
"Grandma, I want you to sew me a jacket with a skull on it."
"For Halloween?"
"No, I just want a jacket. Please."
Well, of course, those of you who are grandmas know,
we can't say, "No."
to darling little grandkids.

I asked him to draw what he wanted his jacket to look like.
Cutest thing ever.
He drew the front on one side of the paper
and the back on the other side
so they matched up.

Anyway, once I had an idea of what he wanted,
we took off for Joanne's to find a pattern and some material.
Little boy patterns for clothes do not exist!
I could find a pattern or a vest, for a shirt, for pants and for P.J.s
but no coat.
Frustrated I began to look
at costume patterns

And that's when he saw what he wanted.

"Oh, and Grandma, I want leather."
Well that wasn't going to happen,
but he was able to find material he liked.

Then before I could even get started
the sewing machine, Ken,
quit and had to go in for repairs.

But here it is, final product.
Well almost final product,
I'm wanting him to check it out before I put his
skull and crossbones on.

(By the way, checked with Mom to make sure skull was okay,
it's a cute cartoon looking one, he almost went with one that had a cat face
instead of a skull so I think we're okay.)

Now he's letting me know he's going to wear it for Halloween
and he is going to grow his hair out
so he can slick it back 50's style.
What a doll.
Did I mention his initials are TNT.
