Excused Absence?????

Yes, I know.
I've been absent.
No excuse, really, but
I've been a little down.
Change is a good thing,
but this one threw me.

Long Post Follows

When I was a young teen, my parents moved the family to a small rural town.
Coming from the city, I did not fit in.
The public library became my friend.
I spent hours and hours in a comfy, overstuffed chair reading.

As an adult, I have moved many times,
each time, I quickly found the public library.
Libraries = solace in a strange world.

Twelve years ago, we moved to Glendale, AZ
And as has been my habit, I found the library immediately.
To my amazement, not only did I find comfort in the stacks,
but I found a group of aspiring writers.
People just like me.

For more than twenty-five years, twice a month they've come together
for twelve years they've allowed me to be a part of their group
We have spilled our hearts on paper,
told our tales, written our poetry and shared joys and sorrows.

Due to budget cuts,
our public library has decided to no longer sponsor our writer's group.
For the last several weeks we've been searching for a new place

Happily, I believe the search is over.
I think we've found a new home.
A library in Surprise, AZ has opened its arms
and are welcoming us. :)

Also, I should confess
when I'm a bit down
I clean and clean and clean some more
so, all the cupboards and closets have been thinned and organized.
I've moved the furniture.
Did a little sewing.
Have I mentioned that I organized - everything!!!!
All in all,
Life is good again - and clean.

Have a great week all.
I'm going to.

  1. Soooooooooooo cool that the Surprise library is going to be your groups new home! :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

  2. That's great that your group was able to find another location!

  3. Glad you found a 'writing' home!

I wish I got into a cleaning and organizing mode a little more often. Enjoy your new clean surroundings.

  4. See, even working through the "location" problem proved to be a valuable time. Now you have everything in order and a NEW place to meet, which could prove to be a huge catalyst for new beginnings, new thoughts, new friends. It's a win-win. I'm a new follower, because I already know you will light up my life. xx's Marsha

  5. Thank goodness you found a new location! Otherwise, they may all end up at your house(GULP!). LOL! That's great you've found so many friends there=0)

    Have a lovely week,

  6. Glad it all worked out. Has anyone in your group had any success getting published? Hope you have a good holiday weekend. The 4th isn't one of my favorites as it is usually hot and the neighbors keep me awake with late night fireworks. We live in the country where anything goes.

  7. Yes, Judy. Several in our group have been published in various ways. Thanks for stopping by.

  8. OOO so glad you found a place to write with your group of friends. What a wonderful thing..writing. A great way to express yourself.
I think this is one reason I love blogging..expression comes in many forms, I guess.

I really love your blog...the tribute to your honey was really nice.
    I am a follower now..:)
    xo bj
